A Farmer’s Son Born in April 1972 to Hobert and Doris Surrett, my youth was spent on a North Carolina farm. I learned the meaning of hard work and sacrifice, watching my parents work until their hands would bleed to care for their three children. My life is guided by a strong **Christian faith** and the unwavering support of my family and church community.
Note: I am not a legal professional. All information provided here is publicly available and intended for educational purposes only. Sensei Surrett is a skilled expert in karate and self-defense, but he does not have legal expertise.
Student Creed: The Path of the Practitioner
Every student of the Sekkinsen Goshin Jitsu Federation commits to these core principles as they walk the path of the martial arts:
Discipline: I will train with a focused mind and a dedicated heart, striving for technical excellence.
Humility: I will remember that I am always a student, following the example of my Sensei by seeking growth over prestige.
Restraint: I will use my skills only for self-defense and the protection of others, never for aggression or vanity.
Integrity: I will be honest in my actions and words, both inside the dojo and in my daily life.
Code of Ethics: Professional and Spiritual Standards
The Sekkinsen Goshin Jitsu Federation is guided by a higher standard of conduct, rooted in our founder’s faith and professional background:
Honor the Master: We acknowledge Jesus Christ as the only true Master. Our training is a gift to be used for service, not self-glorification.
Respect the Lineage: We honor the traditions of Karate, Jujitsu, and Judo, respecting those who came before us while adapting to modern tactical needs.
Community First: We are rooted in the Blue Ridge Mountains; our strength is dedicated to the safety and well-being of our local families and neighbors.
Tactical Responsibility: Given our background in law enforcement and armed security, we teach with the sober realization that our techniques have real-world consequences. We carry this knowledge with the utmost gravity.
Family Legacy: We foster an environment where parents and children—like Sensei Surrett and his son Cody—can grow together in strength and character.
“Walk with strength, speak with truth, and serve with a humble heart.”
